I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to promote the upcoming bout.

Former twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Interaction

Despite these statements, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British rival Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] outshines Fury - he's present here," Joshua stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's greatest financial successes, regularly earning huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the usual stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is truly going ahead.
